Thirteen (13) caregiving scholars of Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines departed for Taiwan on October 17 to study a two-year college course in Long-Term Care at the Tzu Chi University of Science and Technology in Hualien, Taiwan.

The scholars started attending their online classes in September at the Buddhist Tzu Chi Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila in preparation for the study.

The program aims to provide access to education and opportunity to work in Taiwan for students from Southeast Asian countries. The two-year curriculum includes 80 credits of in-class courses and off-campus practicum.

At the end of the course, the students are expected to become basic long-term care givers who can provide client-centered and culturally-sensitive care, equipped with skills to ensure the safety for elderly patients and clients.
