Tzu Chi Bicol Awarding of Scholarship
From the previous academic year, two scholars graduated and earned their respective degrees in Social Work and Education, earning them a chance to help their families.
Scholars of the Tzu Chi Foundation were selected through a careful process, with volunteers diligently screening through the application forms and conducting home visitations and interviews.
Upon admission to the scholarship program, Tzu Chi scholars are provided with a monthly stipend, transportation or dormitory assistance, and special allowances including for books and training, among others. Meanwhile, they are required to attend Humanities Class, a monthly assembly of all Tzu Chi scholars which hopes to mold them into educated, compassionate, filial, and empowered youth.
"Remember the essence of Tzu Chi's teachings. Education is not only a means to personal success, but rather a tool for creating a better world for all," says Tzu Chi volunteer Antonio Tan, in-charge of the regional operations of the Foundation in Bicol.
During the awarding ceremony, Tzu Chi Bicol also honored the immense love and support of the benefactors and the volunteers behind the programs of the Foundation under the missions of Charity, Medicine, Education and Humanistic Culture.
