Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool Philippines holds holiday bake sale

Students of Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool Philippines were joined by their parents, siblings, teachers, and school staff in a holiday bake sale held on December 3 at the bakery of Buddhist Tzu Chi Campus (BTCC) in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
While grownups handled the baking, youngsters like the pre-nursery Lana Chua eagerly took part in preparations of Christmas Tree brownies, banana streusel cupcakes, and double chocolate cream cheese cupcakes.
“She was so excited she wanted to go to school, even on a Saturday,” said her mom, Kaye. “We bake cookies at home once in a while with my older daughter Erin. Sometimes we even cook, and Lana participates. But today she was very excited because she knows she’s baking cupcakes, and they’re her favorite.”
Kids were also motivated by sale’s purpose: to raise funds for Tzu Chi Foundation’s scholars.
“Happy,” said Dylan Ngo of how he and brother Ethan felt while baking. “Because we’re helping children go to school.”
“We’ve been blessed with opening Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool in the Philippines and we’d like to extend our help to other less-fortunate kids who don’t have enough money for education,” explained Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool Philippines Directress Jane Sy. “This year, the beneficiaries of our holiday bake sale are the elementary scholars that Tzu Chi Foundation has been helping through the years.”
“We’re baking children’s dream come true, one box at a time,” she said.
