28 years of Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines

Countless lives have been touched by the compassion and relief offered by Tzu Chi Foundation in its 28 years in the Philippines. This year alone, Tzu Chi’s medical assistance program has expanded to include life-saving heart procedures like the angioplasty performed by Dr. Kent Tan on patient Renato Santos. Tzu Chi’s mission of education has also blossomed, with the launch of the Tzu Chi Great Love Preschool Philippines, and the growing number of Tzu Chi scholars from Metro Manila, Bicol, Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo, Leyte, and Zamboanga. Meanwhile, it resumed its commitment to protect Mother Nature (and provide livelihood) with its upcycling program using excess sport sock material to create beautiful floor mats and stool covers, and its banana tree-planting initiative with Davao del Norte’s Ata Manobo tribe.

Tzu Chi’s disaster relief efforts remain consistent as well. Volunteers were at the frontlines after fires, typhoons, and earthquakes, offering comfort as well as basic necessities to victims of catastrophes—and always without expecting anything in return. Wherever help is needed, Tzu Chi is there, guided by Dharma Master Cheng Yen’s mission of love.
