Let’s Help Children Return to School Safely
When the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Mindanao on June 8, it not only shattered buildings but also disrupted the education of thousands of young learners.
Across four schools visited by Tzu Chi volunteers in Glan and Malapatan, Saranggani Province, students are trying to continue their education despite severely damaged and unsafe classrooms. Only 50 of 174 classrooms remain usable for 5,423 students.
To address this urgent need, we are constructing 70 temporary classrooms and corresponding toilet facilities to help bridge the gap while permanent school buildings are being rebuilt.
