Scholarships
The Tzu Chi Foundation opened its program to poor but deserving College, High School, and Elementary School Students. It aims to take part in the efforts to eradicate the growing number of out-of-school children and youth in the country. The Foundation never expects repayment from its scholars, but hopes that they value education, become good citizens, and contribute to nation-building. Scholars even receive a monthly school allowance to cover some of the costs of education.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the norms of learning and the educational system. The usual face-to-face classes were abruptly shifted to online classes or homeschooling.
To adapt to the new normal, the Foundation makes use of social media and other online platforms in accepting new scholars. Through Facebook, thousands of potential scholars are able to submit their scholarship applications.
Aside from material aid, scholars were involved in attending values formation sessions in their Humanity Class every second Sunday of the month.
