In a strange twist of fate, Marikina resident Lilia Zarate found purpose in life after losing her home during Super Typhoon Ondoy in 2009. As a beneficiary of Tzu Chi Foundation, she got her life back on track thanks to the Cash for Work program offered by Tzu Chi volunteers. Inspired by their sincerity and willingness to help without expectation, she now comforts victims of disasters, much like herself and the survivors of last December's Typhoon Odette, as a Tzu Chi volunteer.
