AKFI donates P1M for Tzu Chi’s earthquake relief efforts in Cebu
By Dorothy Castro
On October 9, Angelo King Foundation Inc. (AKFI) presented a P1M donation to support Tzu Chi’s relief efforts for families affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu on September 30.
Joining hands to provide compassion and relief to affected families, the two foundations met at the Buddhist Tzu Chi Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila, to further discuss how this fund can help support the beneficiaries’ recovery.
During Tzu Chi’s recent ocular visit to parts of northern Cebu from October 5 to 7, volunteers witnessed the condition of many families who either lost their homes or are afraid to return to them due to continued aftershocks days after the devastation.
Through these collaborative efforts, Tzu Chi and AKFI reaffirm their commitment to helping disaster-stricken communities get back on their feet again. This fund aims to provide basic necessities such as food, water, medicine, and hygiene items, as well as construction materials.
AKFI, a long-time partner of Tzu Chi, has consistently extended its generosity, especially in disaster response. Recently, the foundation, led by its president Teddy Kingsu, turned over P3 million to purchase tricycles as a livelihood opportunity for beneficiaries residing in Tzu Chi Palo Great Love Village, Leyte.
