After the Runrio’s Galaxy Watch Earth Day Run, Tzu Chi Foundation Philippines is taking sustainability to new heights. At the Buddhist Tzu Chi Campus, Tzu Chi volunteers are turning hundreds of kilos of banana peels into eco-enzyme and compost, paving the way for a greener tomorrow.

In its first foray into running events, Tzu Chi Foundation served as the advocacy partner of Runrio’s Galaxy Watch Earth Day Run. Held at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds on April 21, the event drew 10,000 runners in its 5K, 10K, and 21K routes.

Race organizer Runrio is also implementing ways to reduce the carbon footprint in its events.

The foundation will host a charity run for education in July.

Volunteers also distributed veggie meal packs and bread to the low-income community.
