Bohol Island in the Philippines suffered an attack by Super Typhoon Rai. Massive waves as high as 3 meters high led to severe devastation leading to 72 deaths and 29,000 families in emergency shelters.

Tzu Chi is promoting vegetarianism on the Bohol Island in the Philippines. The local Tzu Chings not only go meatless, but also learn how to make delicious dishes. They even made videos to share on the internet, attracting more young people to embrace vegetarianism.

In the Philippines, Tzu Chi volunteers held a rice distribution for the second time in Bohol Island, helping over 3000 people. A local resident, although suffering from polio, still rode his tricycle to the distribution site just to hand the bamboo coin bank over to volunteers to express his gratitude.
