Tzu Chi Zamboanga starts vegetable garden initiative

Tzu Chi Zamboanga embraced a new initiative on February 10, 2023, aligning sustainability with the Tzu Chi mission in environmental protection. Scholars and volunteers united for a clean-up drive in preparation for the establishment of the “Tzu Chi Vegetable Garden."
Drawing inspiration from the agricultural backgrounds of many Technical Vocational Scholars, raised by hardworking farmer parents, this project becomes a meaningful endeavor. The vegetable garden not only serves as a sustainable source during monthly humanities class sessions but also serves as a potential source of food during calamities.
Scholars interest extended beyond just cleaning, as they began contemplating and planning for the next phase of the project, deciding on what to plant. This hands-on engagement showcases the scholars' genuine commitment to the Tzu Chi mission and their eagerness to contribute to the creation of the sustainable Tzu Chi Vegetable Garden.
Bijay Ventura, a 22-year-old civil technology student and a victim of Typhoon Paeng year 2022, shared a meaningful perspective on the Tzu Chi Vegetable Garden project during this month humanities class, "This project will not only benefit Tzu Chi scholars but also provide us with the opportunity to assist others in various ways. It has taught me that even if I can't contribute financially, I can still make a meaningful impact on the community through initiatives like the vegetable garden."
