Christmas is the season of giving, sharing, and helping. After being devastated by Typhoon Urduja, the residents of Ormoc City are once again paving their way towards recovery. Tzu Chi Great Love City villagers were provided with free consultation and medicines through the local government's help. Tzu Chi volunteers also distributed relief aid supplies for each family residing the village.
In return of all the help he receives from Tzu Chi Foundation, Perlito Gabres dedicated his time and effort in collecting and cleaning recyclables and donates them to the foundation in support to Tzu Chi’s advocacy of protecting the environment and as a sign of his deepest gratitude. His wife, Emma, a beneficiary of Tzu Chi’s Long Term Care Assistance Program, has been bedridden since 2014 due to her diabetes which also caused her spleen, intestines, and liver to fail.
Spreading more warmth into the hearts of people, Tzu Chi Volunteers donated linoleum floors to the recipients of pre-fabricated houses in Kananga. The volunteers and residents worked hand in hand in installing the linoleum floors in each houses. From now on, the residents are more protected and well-heated in their own houses.
Tzu Chi was built on funds collected in a bamboo coin bank. The foundation’s humble beginnings is a reminder that no contribution is too small to create a great impact. Every peso you donate will make a difference. Just the amount you spend on a cup of coffee will go a long way.
