Former beneficiary Myla Cruz was able to do something good for her benefactors by helping Tzu Chi Foundation, Philippines set up flower decorations for the latter’s Buddha Day celebration at the Marikina Sports Park last May 13.
Cruz was aided by the organization after their residence in Area 4-B, Sitio Libis, Barangay Sto. Niño, Paranaque City was gutted by fire last September 22, 2011.
Incidentally, Cruz was one of the florists hired by Mannix Peña for the flower arrangement job. In an interview, she said she has been hard at work since early of May 12, helping the hundreds of other Tzu Chi volunteers set up the flowers on the long tables for the Buddha-bathing ceremony.
Cruz added it was an honor for her to help Tzu Chi in its missions of love, peace, and hope.
And although it is Mother’s Day, Cruz said that being away from her mother this time is no great hardship as she knows that she is doing her bit to help the organization that helped them during that fateful time when she and her family were rendered homeless by a massive blaze.
“They (Tzu Chi volunteers) arrived in the scene and gave us everything that they can spare like blankets, mats, clothes, and rice, which was what we needed considering our desperate plight,” she stressed in Filipino.
Cruz also vowed to do everything she can to help the organization in the coming days, considering that Tzu Chi Foundation, Philippines succored them in their time of need without even flinching.
