A total of 85 participants of the camp learned more about Tzu Chi Foundation during the three-day Volunteers’ Camp held at Tzu Chi Great Love Campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Participants of Volunteers’ Camp learn more about Tzu Chi Foundation’s missions and activities during the second day of the camp held at Tzu Chi Great Love Campus (TCGLC) last February 22 to 24, 2019.
The more than 80 participants were engaged in multiple sessions to know more about the foundation’s history, missions and activities.
Camp participant Frederick Lim Hong said that he is now much more excited to join the foundation after learning their missions. Knowing the foundation since 2017, Lim Hong has been a mainstay in Tzu Chi’s medical missions in Cebu because of his brother who is a doctor of Tzu Chi International Medical Association.
After the camp, Lim Hong said that he would participate more on Tzu Chi’s activities. “I feel very happy and I will try more and help more people to make this world happy.”
Participants learned about Tzu Chi’s missions of education and medicine in the Philippines, their vegetarian campaign in line with environmental protection, international relief efforts and Da Ai Technology.
The session about Tzu Chi’s International Relief tackled the foundation’s eight footprints: charity, medicine, education, humanity, bone marrow donation, environmental protection, community volunteerism and international relief.
“We shared with them the principle of Tzu Chi in doing any charity mission including the international relief because we want them to understand the principle of Tzu Chi more and also let them see what is [the] difference of Tzu Chi’s charity mission from other organizations.” said volunteer Denice Monica Sy who was the speaker of the session.
Sy said that it’s important to do international relief because of widespread disasters all over the world. Through international relief efforts that already reached 97 countries, Tzu Chi was able to spread its spirit to people from different walks of life.
“This session is very important because we hope that through this session, we can share [with] them [participants] the principle of Tzu Chi and apart from that we can also let them know [where Tzu Chi offices are located and who Tzu Chi has] helped or given aid.” Sy added.
Visitors from Da Ai Technology also held a session to introduce the company’s mission and vision. Established in 2008, Da Ai Technology follows Tzu Chi’s campaign for environmental protection by producing quality eco-friendly products made by PET bottles.
The visitors also hoped that by using their eco-friendly products, people can spread the concept of environmental protection.
“Nowadays there are many ongoing disasters and we hope everyone can work together to reduce garbage… and influence people to join in doing recycling.” said Kuo Yu Chen from Da Ai Tech.
